I married my childhood sweetheart 30 years after we first met.  We were not blessed with children, but our 24 nieces and nephews more than make up for it.  Our weekends are one sneeze away from a party.  There is always a shower, a wedding, or a birthday to celebrate.  In the last 12 months we have been blessed with two new baby girls added to the family and there is a little boy due in two months – that’s just his side of the family!

My parents worked the fields up and down California, settling in the Coachella Valley.  My father instilled in us the understanding that it is a great blessing to have the ability to live and work in the greatest country in the world.  He taught my two sisters and me to work hard, be loyal and sweat dedication.

My favorite book that I’ve read since I was young is “The Richest Man in Babylon”.  The basic teaching of this old book is that you have to do what you can, with what you have.  With consistency you can persevere.  That is how I have always looked at wealth, do what you can with what you have, be consistent and stay the course.

Me casé con mi amor platónico después de 30 años de conocernos.  No tuvimos la bendición de tener familia propia, pero tenemos 24 sobrinos, que es más que recompensa.  Nuestros fines de semana son de fiesta; nunca falta que celebrar, una boda, un cumpleaños o simplemente una carne asada.  En los últimos 12 meses hemos tenido la bendición de dos niñas añadidas a la familia y en dos meses viene otro niño.  Y sigue la familia creciendo.

Mi familia trabajó en los campos de California, por fin asentándonos en el valle de Coachella cerca de Mexicali.  Mi padre nos dijo que es una bendición vivir y trabajar en el mejor país del mundo.  A mis hermanas y a mí nos enseñó a dedicarnos al trabajo, a ser leales, y a sudar con dedicación.

Mi libro favorito desde muy chica es “El hombre más rico de Babilonia”.  La historia principal que relata este libro viejo es que tiene uno que hacer lo que se puede con lo que se tiene.  Con consistencia persevera.  Así es como siempre he considerado la riqueza, uno hace lo que puede con lo que tiene y mantiene el curso.
